In 1860, Maria Rye opened a law stationer’s office to train female legal clerks in a challenge to women being prohibited from practising law in the UK. Maria was a friend of Maria Grey, who in 1873 challenged the male exclusivity of the legal profession by organising a petition to allow women to attend lectures arranged by the Council of Legal Education. Our Maria dress commemorates both women, 100 years after women became allowed to practice law in the UK, in 1919.

if the item is returned within 3 months of purchase, a 35% refund of the actual purchase price; and
if the item is returned within 4 months of purchase, a 20% refund of the actual purchase price.
